two-a-day saturdays!
@showtimefitness and i started our first bootcamp class of 2015 with a bang! had a full house this morning and it was an hour of sweaty, circuit training FUN.

i call it two-a-day saturdays cause afterwards i go and do my own thizzle. it was upper body day and i did all the exercises i absolutely hate! they are also the exercises that make me notice changes in my body the quickest. without challenge, there isn’t much change, right?! you have GOT to work that muscle! shock it! wake it up! exhaust it! by the middle/tail end of your set, you should be wondering whether you’ll finish or not. not daydreaming about your to-do list! #guilty. i did pull ups, push ups, dips, and freaking supine rows (see pic below), just to name a few.
#hatedit. they look so easy though. but nope. anyway, i love following @jazzythings on IG and she will SO be my inspiration should i ever hop in the figure division when i get around to competing again. her lats are pretty incredible and i think of her every time i do my deltoid raises!
cabbage is on sale this week at Sprouts for 38 cents a head. 38 cents for the amount of food one head produces is crazy cost-effective! i got a little heavy-handed with the spices (too hot for my liking) but Sonny LOVED the way this turned out. i eyeballed it and didn’t measure a thing, so keep that in mind as you make it. add or take away as you see fit.
Spicy Steamed Cabbage
the stuff:
- 1 head cabbage, chopped
- 2 tsp smokey sweet paprika
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 1 green or red bell pepper, diced
- 2 slices Applegate Turkey Bacon, diced
- 1 tbsp EVOO (extra virgin olive oil)
- 2 tsp red pepper flakes
- black pepper
- 2 tbsp liquid aminos (or sea salt)
- 2 cups low sodium chicken broth
do this:
- in a large medium-high heated pot, add olive oil
- add yellow onion and saute until translucent, about 2-3 min
- add bell pepper, bacon, stir and let cook 1 min
- add cabbage, all spices, and mix
- add chicken broth, cover pot, reduce to medium-low heat
- let steam/simmer for about 10-15 minutes or until the cabbage is Al dente.
i’m tired of tilapia, whiting, and chicken, so we did beef this week. i threw some thinly sliced sirloin into my crock pot with liquid aminos, 2 garlic cloves, smokey sweet paprika, one large shallot, black pepper, low sodium chicken broth, and all natural applewood liquid smoke.
well someone is eating like a big boy these days! so far, roasted butternut squash/avocado, roasted sweet potatoes, and oatmeal/bananas/cinnamon have all been winners. i love watching my mom feed her grand boys.
i’m impressed by Dego’s healthy appetite!
only ‘issue’ now is those two fingers though, haha. he shoots them right back into his mouth after every bite.
so this, my friends, is how i wrapped up my saturday night. coconut is by far my favorite Arctic Zero flavor! they were on sale at Sprouts this week @ 2 for 5 bucks. that’s an AWESOME sale cause they are almost 5 bucks for 1 pint at Walmart. love this stuff and although i have never eaten the entire thing in one sitting, the coconut flavor tempts me to do just that.
anywaaaay, hope you enjoyed your saturday, however you spent it! i’d love to give a huge shout out to @babygirlclb for making my homemade pizza recipe and posting this beauty last night!!!!! YUMMAY.
night!
